Have a seat!

I have been super busy this week, trying to keep stuff going out of my garage as fast as it is going in! (I am not succeeding.) I think one of my favorite new items is this bench that I picked up at a garage sale.

Don't you just love the orangey-brown wood, and the green cushion? Even if the cushion was leather, it still had to go. I mean, that color combo is SO 1994 (say that in your best valley-girl voice).

With black paint and bright fabric, this is what I came up with.

The bottom could easily hold a couple of baskets for shoes in an entry way, or toys in a play room, or extra blankets in a bedroom.

I wonder if 15 years from now this color combination will be like, so 2010!

Did you cover over the leather or pull it off? I have some cushions I need to recover and am not sure what to do.

Thank you all! Teri, I pulled the leather off, but I haven't thrown it away yet! I don't know what to do with it, but I hate to throw away good leather.

That's quite a difference - unfortunately, it will probably look dated at some point.

Just found your blog by following a comment you left on someone else's blog - - - someone who participated in "Sunday Favorites" today... Now, I'd tell you who if I could just remember.

I clicked over here because of your NAME! Our youngest daughter shares your name minus one "R." Not a real common spelling of the name, so because of our Korie I noticed you!

And, I chose THIS post for my comment because I LOVE what you did with this little ottoman/bench/coffee table. Usually I really don't like it when folks (you young whippersnappers do this a lot these days and we old fogies don't) paint wooden furniture. But in THIS case, you did EXACTLY the right thing!
