Covered in YEARS of grime and dust, home to approximately 764 spiders, it was beautiful to me!
I have NO idea how long it must have sat out there, only marginally protected from the elements. You can see that the finish was shot and the drawers were falling out…
…but the base was intact. I took the cabinet off, cleaned up the base, and then freshened it up with a new coat of paint.
Inspired by Full Circle Creation’s sewing base remake, I built a new top with a shelf underneath. I just think it makes the whole thing just a little more useful (wouldn’t it make a great nightstand for one of those tall beds?).
And because I can’t live without my old graphics…I used this vintage clothing ad from the Graphics Fairy to dress up the top. I was trying to make it look like an old crate or something!
I love the combination of wood and metal in so many things! Wish I had a place in my house for this one.
This is actually the second sewing base I have remade like this, inspired by Holly. The first one sold at the Barn Sale before I had a proper picture of it, but you can get a glimpse here (I used this Graphics Fairy image):

Note: I've had some questions about the transfer method I used...well, I didn't use one. I used my Silhouette machine to create a vinyl stencil out of the Graphics Fairy images, and then I painted the images on.

Great find, Korrie! I love the one with the "Clothing House" image. I think that is perfect for a sewing machine table. I have only started going to estate sales this year, but I always make sure I check out the garage and basement. A lot of times there are more than tools in them.
Well, well, well! I love the Ready Made Clothing graphic but must confess, if I had found that Singer Machine Sewing Table I would have kept it...Mom and Grandma both sat in front of the Singer Featherweight and drove for years! Smile....
I would have looked at that thing and had noooooo idea what to do with it!! You are a wonder..
I like this second one better. I like the graphic and I like the metal better. The Singer is nice.... but yeah. The second one.

I did one of these years ago and took it to Glendale. It's such a crowded festival with parking very far away. This was purchased by a woman... she and her friend had to carry that thing all the way to her car! I hope your buyer cold load in at the booth. :)

I love what you did, and I must admit, this is my weakness, I have one sitting on my front porch (it houses 764 spiders as well) I rolled it home from the curb down the street. It doesn't need much , but the musty smell really bothers me so I'm airing it out. (before I kill the spiders)
I like the 2nd one better! You did a wonderful job on both ~ as usual. I have a tall bed ~ wish I had that here to use as a night stand. You're just too far away! :)

While the scrolly base of the newer one is so very attractive, I have to say I like the beehive top better. Both are great, however, and if I had either one, it would make me happy. =)
I absolutely love what you did with the sewing machine table. I have a base (unfortunately without the treadle mechanism), and mine has a wood top that someone painted yellow! When I brought it home, I painted the top black, but I think I need to redo it and put a graphic on it. I prefer the one with the Pearl Street address, since I believe I know where Pearl Street is in NYC. Great job!
