Where Liberty Dwells

And now…for the REST of the story!

If you’ve stuck with me this long, you now know how one wrecked beadboard flag has been turned into multiple smaller projects!

First there was the patriotic bunting, then the large Old Glory sign.

The next sign is probably my favorite!  I took a five-stripe section out of the middle of the flag and painted a Benjamin Franklin quote on it that I came across on Pinterest (where else?):

Where Liberty dwells, there is my country.

The lettering is all in navy blue, outlined in white.  For the word “Liberty,” I painted over the letters in clear glitter to give it some sparkle!

At the moment I am enjoying it on my buffet, but it will go with me to the Whitaker Museum Flea Market on June 16th.

In the picture below, you can see a small “Glory” sign that was made out of the final scraps of the flag.  Actually—it is the reason the whole flag couldn’t be re-painted?  Let this be a lesson to you…NEVER cut off 6 inches of your flag until you’re sure you have the measurements right!

I’m curious…which version of my buffet do you like better?

I think all the projects you've made from the lemon flag are great! You are so good at improvising! :) I hope the flea market goes great and you sell a lot of lemonade items. ;)

It's great how you made it work out for you. I love the Franklin quote.

Nice job Korrie... they are both lovely but I am liking the second version best.

Good save there.

I like the second version of your buffet.

What you've done with your bead board is fantastic! I've never decorated for the 4th. I think by then I'm too wilted and tired. :) This post makes me think that perhaps I might want to rethink!

You gave me an idea for my Fourth of July mantle. I am going to get my blue checkerboard off the porch and toss in flags of different heights.
I love getting inspiration from other's blogs.

The type style you used is awesome!! Really makes the whole sign.

Are you asking us to rate all the vignettes that you have put on this buffet?? You should do a post with a pic of each one and have people vote!!! :)

Maybe the Liberty version~just because I like those pressed tin panels so much!
You really used all the scraps, and used them well! I love the quote, and the white outlines really make all the words pop.
