I have seen a couple of beautiful coffee tables pop in in blogland, inspired by my French Chocolate coffee table. I would love to highlight these in a post, so if you’re making one, be sure and send me a picture!
I am busy getting ready for Bella’s Vintage Market, and since I decided I was keeping the original coffee table, I decided to create another one (or two).
I loved the square shape and chunky legs of this table, to it had to come home with me.
I found another perfect vintage French ad at The Graphics Fairy, and after a lot of sanding and another night on the floor, I was left with this:
Note: I didn't worry about getting a perfectly uniform surface. I wanted this to look like it was made over from an old crate or sign or something, so the imperfections in the finish are fine with me!
What fun!
I think this particular ad makes even less sense in English.
I don’t care; it looks good!
I distressed the lettering, then stained the top with a two-layer approach of Minwax English Chestnut followed by Antique Walnut Stain. The bottom I painted in Behr Ultra Pillar White (at least, I’m pretty sure that’s what it was), and glazed it.
…and…Voila! (that’s French, right??)
I also replaced the boring wooden knob with a pretty bin pull.
I still like the chunky legs…how come we only say that about tables and babies??
What do you think?
This piece will be available for sale at Bella’s Vintage Market at Wheeler Farms (Salt Lake City) on July 9! “Like” them on Facebook for $1 off admission.

I LOVE it! It's So Awesome!
what do you use for the lettering do you use black paint?
That looks awesome, you're ReALLY good at that French design stuff! I think you found your nich!! (I'm not going to do the boutique.... I'm a dork and bugged out. (I have too much stress right now and too many kids demanding my attention... Have you noticed I haven't posted for a week?!) I still think I'll come visit and shop though. Just call me LOOS- er :(
Love this. I have the bedroom set from this line that I want to redo, but was having a hard time deciding what to do. I think I know now, thanks for the idea!
I think it's fabulous!!!!
I did a simple graphic on my the kitchen table. I traced it all with pencil and sat the table upright to paint it. Worked for me. I'm ready to do something with more detail now.
Another AMAZING one! Just really really nice stuff.:)
O. My. GOODNESS!!
ANOTHER fabulous typography piece!! You're the Queen!!
Hi again, thanks for visiting me. Of course you know I got the idea from you to begin with. This graphic thing is addicting isn't it.
Its so beautiful! I love it.
Korrie, Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love the table! I also LOVE your new header showcasing your talent!
BTW, I sold my napoleon chairs. I will be contacting you soon. :) I am EXCITED!!! (Hubby is on board now!)
Your tables are so awesome! I think you could just specialize in these and make a fortune! :)
That table turned out great, love it!
XXX Ido
love the way your table turned out. I happen to like the painted legs and stained top look. Would love to do that with my kitchen table...but it just isn't going to happen. The Hubs doesn't wanted it painted. (I guess since he built it, I'll comply) {wink}
But your table is so great.
Pat
Just beautiful.
I have the perfect coffee table for doing this and I am scared out of my freakin' mind to even THINK about doing it. I wish I could wiggle my nose and it would be all done.
Yes, yes, yes....Love it!
how cool would that be in an actual awesome little coffee shop with 4 chairs or two little couches, and a stack of board games nearby. my friends and i in high school always hit "the thirsty mind" in south hadley, massachusetts and we would have coffees and play games. it was awesome! like this table. :)
Another home run!

Another beautiful masterpiece, Korrie! :) Did you use the overhead projector on this piece, too? Sure wish there was an easier way to get a large piece copied other than taking it to a Kinkos and stealing an overhead! lol! Did you use paint pens?
xoxo laurie
It's BEAUTIFUL! Fantastic job!
I love, love, love these tables. I am the hunt for one to give it a try too!
I think it's great, Korrie! It may not make sense in English, but it's still fabulous!
Why do we only say that about babies and tables? No one ever compliments my chunky legs!
Just gorgeous! And I see you made some of those book birdhouses. Nice! I'd like to hear how the making of those went for you. I've got my books to make some, but haven't had the chance yet. My nephew is leaving tomorrow, so I'll have a little more time. Love the table!
Holly
LOVE it!!!
I love love LOVE the tables!!! I can't wait to try this on my own furniture! Thanks so much for the inspiration!
This looks great! Don't you just love all those cool graphics at the Graphics Fairy?
Yum! What a great job. I love the graphics!
Another winner is what I think! Goodness.. you're awesome at this. :) I've seen the other copy cat tables pop up too. It's a really neat feeling knowing you've paved a road, isn't it? :)
Donna
Just found your blog via Miss Mustard Seed. Love that table! Great job! Another thing that caught my eye was the great little book mushrooms (or houses). Love them! Did you make them? Do you have a tute for them? So glad I found your blog; full of inspiration!
ADORABLE!!!!
Very interesting to see this makeover. I have that same coffee table, but in a rectangular shape. I so enjoy seeing what different people do on the same types of furniture!
I love it! I keep saying I'm going to do a french table... just haven't gotten to it yet! :( So many projects so little time!!!!
This is just beautiful! I was just researching how to get images transferred to wood. Hoping hand painting isn't the only option! How did you do the image? And I too would love to know about the birdhouse books. I just finished a bunch of plain 'tubes' to use at my son's upcoming wedding (book themed).
That turned out awesome!
Your table turned out amazing! I love how the stain looks over the image you painted. Gorgeous!
Thanks for stopping by and for your nice comment on my blog :)
xoxo
