January Buffet (with a new treasure!)

First of all, thank you to all of you who responded with thoughtful comments, encouragement, and advice on our home situation! I can’t begin to tell you how much it means to me.

If you didn’t get a response back from me, that is because you don’t have an e-mail linked up to your account, and I would love for you to consider changing that situation!

We actually had an offer on our home today…for a mere $20,000 less than our asking price! We politely said, “No, thank you.” We’re motivated, but not desperate!

On to more fun things…

Do you remember my Christmas buffet?

Christmas2011 001

Well, the stockings came down, and the hurricane lamps moved to other places. I pulled all of my poinsettias together, including the ones from the suitcase wall, and made a new arrangement:

January 010

It was simple and pretty, and highlighted my beautiful flowers…

January 012

…but it still seemed to be missing something.

Lucky for me, a brief stop at a new antique store revealed that perfect “something” to me!

January 013

Do you like my new sled?? I adore it!

My boys are disappointed that it is to be decorative rather than functional!

January 014

And guess what else?? Even my husband likes this one!

Love the sled! Glad you didn't take that offer...maybe they will come back with a more reasonable offer. Good luck!

Yep that sled makes it look just right. I like it. I have been too lazy to blog about the changes I have made since Christmas. Maybe tomorrow. :)

My advice? Counter on the low ball offer. Even if it is just a little. I am assuming that you knew that you would have to come off your asking price here. I have never sold a house without coming off it, even in the best markets. I don't know what your house is worth, nor do I want you to tell me. But any offer is a fish on the line. I would see what you can do to get that fish in the boat!!

Love the sleigh. Totally cool.

Great Winter look, Korrie! I loved it even before you added the sled, but it definitely works well. I have a little one about half the size of that and I have it hanging outside my front door with some faux greenery.

I agree with Lesley ~ counter that offer up closer to your asking price. Because of the market in our area, and even though we weren't desperate but wanted our lives off being on hold, we wound up coming down and eventually went with an offer 50k off our original listed price. And that was 7 months later! In NY, you never get your asking price; I'm not sure if it is the same all over though.

Terrific sled, Korrie! I have a vintage sled I use merely for decoration, as well. Since my kiddos are grown, and I don't think hubby would care to use it, there's no competing ideas about its purpose. ;)

I would love to have you join me at my linky party - Time Travel Thursday. The link is up and ready for your visit!

Blessings,

The sled is perfect on the mantle!! Love it Korrie.

I hate to tune in as well, however there is never anything to lose in a counter offer. People are all trying to get a bargain.

Oh I do like that sled! I love it! Makes me wish we'd have held onto our old metal/wood sleds growing up. I have no idea what happened to those things.

I love your new/old sled- it looks perfect there! Sorry you got a crummy offer on your home. Don't worry, you'll get the perfect buyers who will love your home.

that sled is adorable and the perfect touch to your display. Yes, as a former RE broker I would say to counter offer. A first offer is usually just a lure to see where you stand. Good luck!!!

Cute cute cute, but then again so was the before picture from Christmas. I'm gonna get me a chalkboard just so I can write Baby It's Cold Outside, on it!

I would sit tight and let the buyer make the next move. The realtor is probably advising them to wait on you. It's a game. Be better at it. A counter-offer makes you look too eager. The realtor should have known not to offer you such a ridiculously low price. The ball is in their court. Wait for it to come back to you. They offered. You said "no" and they need to speak next. I have bought and sold four houses. I always got the asking price. And, I did not use a realtor. Once, I refused to come down even $500.

Buffet looks great.

I love your cute little sled...the buffet looks great. I need to change things around on mine. :)

Just the right buyer will come along and give you what you deserve for your house. Just hang in there.

Korrie,
What you have is actually a sledge.
It was meant to pull your things in the snow. A sled has some type of handles to steer with. I have one just like yours & was told this by the seller. :)
