Hello, Yellow!

It’s time for a good old-fashioned furniture makeover, don’t you agree?

I picked up this little dresser at Deseret Industries (Utah’s version of Goodwill) during the summer.  Prices at DI  are a little erratic, but in this instance, it was a good thing!  At $30, it took me about 0.5 seconds to decide this one was coming home with me.

I sanded down the top and the decorative backsplash and re-stained them with Minwax Antique Walnut.

I had a can of “oops”  yellow paint that I used for the body…

…and I brushed white paint over the appliques and in the grooves.

I distressed this piece more than I usually do.  I actually don’t embrace the “shabby” style in general, but it seemed to work for this piece.

So that’s it.  Short and simple!  Hope you like it!

Beautiful, Korrie! Love the walnut top with the yellow. Great price, too. I don't think I've been lucky enough to find something in decent enough shape for such a low price. I did see a coffee table at Goodwill that I may go back and get. It was $40.00 and would make a great bench {which my daughter would like for her living room}.

It's really pretty Korrie! I love the contrast of the dark top and the soft yellow! Great find!

Wow - it's amazing!! Goodwill is a little random in their pricing too...my mother-in-law managed a GW, and she said that they have a pricing list that they go by, but if there's something that isn't easy to classify, the worker uses his or her own discretion to determine price.
Anyway...thanks for sharing the redo. Good Luck with selling your house, we sold ours a couple summers ago, and were lucky to be in an area with fairly quick turnover...but I can't imagine the task of needing to keep a house in showing condition with 6 kids! (I had 1 baby and one on the way, and could barely keep up) Buyers expect perfection these days. I hope the process is quick and painless for you! Take care.

Suzanne@Meridian Road said...

Yes, I do like it! I like it a lot. It's a really pretty yellow. And I can't get over the price! I NEVER see anything near as good as that here, and definitely not for $30!

Sue@Uniquely Chic said...

Love yellow and you really don't see it much on furniture. This one is awesome and quite the deal @ 30.00. Yay, you!
