Would you have been able to resist this? I couldn’t. It’s a beautiful hand-made, solid wood baby cradle. I can just imagine the love carved into every inch!
I am not generally a fan of hearts in furniture or jewelry…but I made an exception for this piece.
I see beautiful vintage-style nurseries on the Internet all the time now, so I thought I’d make over this cradle to go along with the theme!
I painted the body in a barely off-white, and then dry-brushed some cream over it. I distressed the edges and details, and then glazed the whole thing with dark brown stain.
The baby quilt is ‘vintage,’ too! It was made for me when I was a baby. My mother never used it because she couldn’t bear to see it worn out. I take it out of my linen closet to admire every once in a while!
I used a bassinet to keep my babies close to me in their first few months…
…but now I’m wishing I had had a cradle!
Note: Even better, this cradle went to a mom expecting her first baby girl
....after SIX boys!

I want to be a baby again! It's sooo beautiful!
Korrie, it is gorgeous! You did a beautiful job on it. I too used a bassinet early on with my babies. Wouldn't an antique cradle just rocked? :-)
Love the baby quilt too. Sounds like my mother..."saving" special things. I finally got her to begin using things for herself prior to her illness. It was very uncomfortable for her but she did adjust somewhat. I believe in using all the good stuff every day!

It is beautiful and you gave it an amazing transformation! A beautiful accent piece even when there isn't a baby in the house :)
amazing transformation Korrie! The cradle looks fabulous!
great job,

It is just adorable. I had a cradle with my baby girl..sold it in a garage sale and I am just kickin' myself right now. O, it wasn't nearly as pretty as THIS one, but it was cute. No place for it, now, anyway.

That cradle is beautiful! I'm not a huge fan of hearts either, but they look just perfect here.
Aw, that's so precious! I don't like hearts either, but on this piece it works!

SO SO pretty!! I love the antique finish you did. Shhhhh, don't wake the baby :)
I'm not usually a fan of hearts either but I can make an exception for a beautiful cradle like this one! I love the finish. Very pretty.
I love the cradle! I don't really like hearts either...but I would keep them to have something like this :)
Thank you for coming to visit my blogs. I love the Graphics Fairy! She is such a wonderful person and obviously generous for putting all of this fabulous stuff out there for free!
I love all of the tables and things you have done with the chocolate graphics!
Gorgeous redo! That little gem is an heirloom piece. (I can't believe someone got rid of it!)
I'm not a huge fan of the whole heart decor either, but like you, I would have made this the exception too! You gave it a beautiful new life makes it a true "keeper."
This turned out so sweet.
So cute! I'm not a heart fan either but for this I'd make an exception!
Thanks for coming by, Korrie, to see my little green hutch. I don't know how to do all the distressing and special things you do..I just know how to paint. ;))
I am thinking how pretty is might be WHITE, like this cradle..I'll think about it. :))

Oh how sweet it is. I couldn't have resisted it either! Love the remake you did. Great job. And love the quilt! I wish I had a quilt from when I was a baby.

How adorable!
How sweet! There are some motifs or color that I personally don't care for, but when it comes to something for my little girls, I'm all about it, LOL.

Hi Korrie!
How sweet is this little cradle? I agree, I can't stand heart cut outs on things, but this is precious.

What a beautiful post! I love what you did with it, really brought out all the delightful details. The fact that a woman who is finally having a girl was the recipient just makes it all too perfect!!
