OK, here’s a bad-blogger moment. I don’t have any before or even middle pictures of this chair—just the afters.
A friend of mine gave the chair to me, knowing that I was hoping to convince my husband to use it with the pretty new office desk (no such luck). It has a nice wood frame, but it was chipped and worn. Since it was already a dark, faux-wood-grain finish, I decided to spare myself some grief (and work) and keep it dark—it got a coat of black paint.
I found this nice embroidered linen-look fabric at Hobby Lobby, and it reminded me of a grain sack. But when I first recovered the seat, I was seriously under-whelmed. It seemed too bleahh next to the dark chair.
What to do…what to do…
I decided to “highlight” the grain-sack look by stenciling on a number. It’s amazing how such a simple change made me like the chair a whole lot more. The black number seemed to tie the seat cover in with the frame—and it’s just more fun to look at that way!
This table will be available at the Whitaker Flea Market on June 16! Hope to see you there!

Funny...your comment about being a bad blogger because you didn't take a before pic. As I was on my break from the blog and getting my life settled in this house, I made the decision that before pics were just not going to be something I worried too much about, unless I was writing some sort of tutorial. lol I think we put way too much pressure on ourselves and spend a lot of time of stuff that isn't necessary. Case in point. This chair of yours is delightful. The post would not have been any better with a before. It's nice just the way it is.:)
ReplyDeleteKorrie -- NOTHING underwhelming about that chair now -- WOW factor for sure!!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I tend to get started on projects, full steam ahead, and think *I should be taking pictures*, lol.
Blessings!

She's a beauty and I love the addition of the number!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cool touch! It's a great looking chair, too.
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome chair. I love numbers on anything and you did a great job with it. I'm like you...I always forget to take the before picture until I've started my project. How is that? Anyway, great makeover - as always! Have a wonderful weekend Korrie!
ReplyDeleteI agree the numbers added a whole new oompf (not sure I spelled that right, but it's not really a word any way) to the chair.
ReplyDeleteI like it!
ReplyDeletethat fabric is so pretty and was perfect for the numbers! great find!
ReplyDeleteLove it Korrie! You are right, adding the numbers totally "made" the chair look unique.

This chair looks really great. I like its wooden frame very much as it gives a antique look. The embroidered linen is looking awesome on the chair. I just love its grain sack look very much.

I love what you did with this Korrie! If you could only see the pathetic excuse of a chair I blog from, you'd probably die! I'm going to keep a look out for real wood chair like this I could fix up too.
ReplyDeleteThe chair, color, and fabric were made for each other! And the stenciling is just perfect! Beautiful! :)
