First of all, I promise there will be a furniture project posted tomorrow!
But for tonight, I thought I’d whine a little fill you in on the latest bump in our roller-coaster house ride!
As I mentioned on Wednesday, we decided to take our house off the market on Tuesday. Tuesday night we got a call from an agent wanting to show our house the next day, and we said, “no.” That was hard! …but it was also probably a good thing, as I have continued to have sick kids!
Thursday morning, I get a call from our real estate agent. Three weeks ago, there was a couple who made an offer on our house, but we weren’t able to come to an agreement. Apparently, they were having second thoughts. Were we still willing to talk?
Well…OK…I guess….maybe…
After thinking about it for a while, we told them we would be willing…but that the price we had originally countered with wasn’t going to work for us. We had actually offered to sell for $2000 less than what I thought our “bottom line” should be…so I moved the price back UP to that line!
And so we waited.
When I didn’t hear anything back by noon on Friday, I figured it was a dead deal. OK, fine.
You know where this is going, right?
Friday afternoon our agent calls as says they are willing to consider it, but would we be willing to include any home furnishings for that price?
Well…OK…I guess….maybe…
We thought about it some more, and offered to include the couch and loveseat in our family room. Quite honestly, I have wanted to replace them, and it would be nice NOT to have to haul them back up the basement stairs!
And so we waited some more!
Today our agent calls and says they want to come look at the house one more time, Monday evening. We agreed.
So…what do you think? Do you think we’re going to sell our house after all, AFTER pulling it from the market? I don’t know what to think at this point!
My husband and I spent some in a quiet, peaceful place this afternoon, thinking and praying. And the thought that came to my mind was this one:
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
And so…I will try to do just that!

Thanks for letting me vent!
Wow, you are on a roller coaster ride. I hope that it all turns out well for you. And that if you do sell, you'll be able to find/get a place that you absolutely love and that is right for you, your family and where both vehicles can park in the garage! Good luck.

Best of luck, it has been a roller coaster! Can't wait to hear the outcome :)

It's like the couple who adopts and then gets pregnant. Crazy. I too believe whatever happens is meant to be and will work out for you. Keep us posted!
ReplyDeletei wish you best of luck, but i think you are in a good position to stand firm and get what you want- don't settle too much! :) your house is worth it!
ReplyDeleteYou bet He'll direct your path. If this is meant to be it's meant to be. The best part is that you were accepting of the fact you would stay. You let go of leaving, and maybe that's what lead to it being the time to go! It's even more exciting now waiting for the answer because you know He's directing it.

(You know they are coming back to see the chocolate table, they want it I know they do!)
good luck!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTracy took the words out of my mouth. It's like deciding to sell all the baby things...and finally getting pregnant! God may be leading you to a feeling of peace about whatever happens through this process.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

Good luck Korrie, I know how fustrating this can be! I think it is a good sign that they want to come back for another look.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Korrie! I'll just keep my fingers crossed that everything works out the way it is supposed to! I'm sending you a great big virtual hug!
ReplyDeleteWell, that really is a roller coaster ride for sure. I am sure the Lord is in control and I am sure He will guide you. God Bless. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteEverything will work out the way it was meant to be. Good luck
ReplyDeleteEverything will work out the way it was meant to be. Good luck
ReplyDeleteHope it works out for you. I am in the midst of home selling and it is no fun. Had a showing last week and the poeple came to the front door, heard the dog rustling around in the crate, became afraid and never came in. Come on people. Do you have any idea how much work it is to get a house ready? After I busted my hump cleaning before church, having my family visiting from out of town helping to clean and then to find out they never even set foot in the door. I was not happy to hear that. I have just about had enough and am contemplating taking it off as well. Sometimes I wonder if it is even worht all the stress.

I think that what is meant to be will be. And it sounds like you are in a peaceful place no matter which way it goes. Can't wait to hear :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is an interesting development. Wish you all the best as you make these important decisions.
ReplyDeleteWe just closed the sale on our old house last week, so I know how difficult it can be to wonder what will happen.
ReplyDeleteMay the Lord work it all out, according to your good!
Blessings,
Angie @ Knick of Time

Oh my...I am a very firm believer in if it is meant to be..it will be! Hang in there...and good luck! Katie
ReplyDeleteHi, I remember when we sold our house, a friend of mine asked me how badly I wanted to move. She gave me some great advice and said not to let a few thousand dollars be the deal breaker if we really wanted to sell our house. We went through some back & forth negotiations and eventually sold to the people. I, too, had to include a few things like custom window treatments, etc. Let your head & your heart help you make this difficult decision. You must feel good about the outcome. We were lucky, our buyers were qualified to purchase and the sale went smoothly. I wish you the best of luck : )
ReplyDeleteHave you considered Psalm 37:4 - He gives us the desires of our heart.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't believe in the "if it were meant to be" rationale. Do you want a new house or not? Was God leading you to move in the first place?
We can sometimes easily persuade ourselves to settle when things don't "look" like they're going our way. I've learned through numerous home sales and other situations - it's not over until God says it's over, or until we settle for less. I'll be praying James 1:5-7 for you.

Korrie, what a sweet testimony to His love for us and the peace He provides! I know it can be a roller coaster sometimes. Good luck and thanks for sharing this special verse! I'm now following you on Linky Follower.
ReplyDeleteRemember something going into Monday... It isn't about the 2 grand...don't lose focus on what matters. The most important parts of this are: Are they cash buyers, are they pre-approved, are the buying 'as is,' is their a contingency for them to sell their house in order to close on your home. If you draw a contract up with these people with a contingency...well, you know because it happened to you on the buying side. Just sounds like a LOT of stress that you had already walked away. Just my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out for you.
ReplyDeleteI will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Good Luck!
That's how it usually works out. We need those reminders that God is in control. It helps us ride the roller coaster of life. Hope it all works out for you soon.
ReplyDeleteWow, lots of advice among your followers. I'll just wish you good luck and say a prayer of my own for you.

"The Lord works in mysterious ways..." I can only imagine the ups & downs of this ride you're on. I agree with the scripture you shared as well as my "go to", Let Go and Let God. :-)
ReplyDeleteKeeping you and your family in my prayers.

I think the good man above will open the door if it was meant to be; if not the door will close. Your decor would be a selling point for me. I say don't let this deal get away over a piece(s) of furniture. You're masterpieces may just be what it takes to seal a deal.. if so....GO FOR IT. You will create more.
ReplyDeleteIsn't God's timing perfect? :-) Everything happens in His time, not our own. I am excited to see this new chapter in your lives, whether you sell or not :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my! what a roller coaster! Thinking of you, sending lots of prayers and positive thoughts your way!

I just sold our house, because we were transferred - my husband was off on a new assignment and had me handle it completely. I've done it several times, successfully, but this is an AWFUL market. We needed to move on with our lives. This lights a fire under one's butt. For a year, I lived 15 hours away from my husband; a year during which both my father & dog died & the kids officially left home. I had workmen in, replacing carpet, fixing everything. I personally painted 1/2 of the house. I did nothing but clean & caulk & touch up for the 4 months the house was on the market. I had fresh flowers and fresh strawberries for every showing. For 5 weeks not one person toured my house. Finally it picked up. At our price range we were lucky to sell in 4 months, as the appraiser said 6 months was the norm.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to move, $2000 is the least of your problems. Don't let it stop you from coming to an agreement. They love your house and you will have to work with them through the inspection and the closing. The people who bought our house, wanted all sorts of things, like our new barbeque grill, crystal chandelier and Miele W/D. The offer was clean with no contigences so we took a deep breath, and said yes to it all, simply yes. It made the rest of the process go easier, because they got what they wanted. After all, we knew we could make up for any losses on the other end - and we did, when we bought a house from a bank for a third of the price it listed for in 2008. I would try for concessions on the Inspection. We only agreed to fix items over $1500, they could deal with the small stuff. Law would require us to take care of the big stuff anyway. Selling your furniture with your house is not such a bad idea, becase nothing ever fits or looks right in the new house anyway. I say GO FOR IT and move on to new and exciting projects.
You are lucky somebody loves your house and wants to buy everything. Look on the positive side - there are so many housing bargains out there now for you to buy! Good luck!
Oh. My. Holy. Schmoly. Roller coaster ride!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they didn't ask for the suitcase wall! Would you have let it go, for the opportunity of a larger house? (or larger garage, at least!)
