Well, my friends, I’ve been “voted off the island!” My project for Round 3: Fabric of Crafting with the Stars was Lucy’s Very Hungry Caterpillar (including the fabric picture, caterpillar body pillow, and butterfly wings). It came in 4th place this round.
I had a lot of fun with my project; it was made better by the face that I created it for people I love (1st project was for my sister, 2nd for one neighbor, and 3rd for another neighbor and sister)!. However, I don’t think I picked well for this contest—it was a good fabric project, but not really a good fabric-home-décor project, and those are what carried the day! Congratulations to the final three contestants!
The good part is…I feel a lot less pressure at the moment! I have been hard at work on what would have been my Round 4 project, and this one is for ME! It’s actually nice to be “off the clock,” so to speak, and not be working on such a tight deadline.
THANK YOU to all of you who took the time to vote, whether or not it was for my projects! Your kind comments always make me feel like a winner!
I LOVE, LOVE your work Korrie!! Anxious to see what you've been working on.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, Korrie! It couldn't be any more adorable, though! What a cutie.
ReplyDeleteCongrats for accomplishing all that you did! Great job on all your entries. : )

Don't be bummed, you did a super awesome job! And you girls were all so talented, that was crazy competition!
ReplyDeleteyes, you did awesome! i loved thatcaterpillar project! and now you can just relax. :)
ReplyDeleteOh! I'm sorry you didn't win but what you made is ADORABLE!! Like everything else you do. How fun this is for your daughter.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have a project coming up for you!!
You're projects have all been so INSPIRING, so that makes you a winner too in my book!! That little girl in those butterfly wings was the most precious thing in the last round. Way to go! Deb
ReplyDeleteNo kidding??? I voted for it!! How can you resist the transformation of the cutest caterpillar into the prettiest butterfly?? I have to be honest that I didn't think this was YOUR project, but I did vote for it. I thought you did the foot stool (which I also voted for).
ReplyDeleteWell on the bright side, I guess now you can take a deep breath and focus on other things. You did great getting this far!
Congrats on all you accomplished!!! You did so great and for what it's worth I LOVE this project. The pressure is the reason I don't enter those competitions!! I don't do well with deadlines, after all I put the pro in procrasti...
ReplyDeleteDon't be too sad, your projects were awesome and this one was just adorable.
ReplyDeleteLucy will love her caterpillars and butterfly wings for years! Judging is so subjective! Still a GREAT project, if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteI just stopped by from Crafting with the stars to say what a beautiful model you have. This was a super cute project.
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed for you. I have to say, when I saw Mr. Hungry I sat in total amazement at the project (and how it kept going with the wings & the stuffed animal) etc. I voted for it because it was so creative, extremely beautiful and such a really nice thing to do for that little girl. (I have a friend with a little girl in the same situation!) You are tops in my book! I'm proud of you and think you did an AWESOME job!
ReplyDeleteThe caterpillar project is amazing. You should be proud! I am a teacher and I totally appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteWell, darlin' girl...you know, in MY book, you are ALWAYS the winner. Your talent is so awesome and we ALL know how good you are at what you do.:))

NO!!!! I was so enjoying watching you progress in the contest... Your project was super nice. Oh well....on to bigger and better!
ReplyDeleteI loved this project! I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how you made the body pillow? Pleeeaaassee!!
ReplyDeleteI think you are very talented Korrie, and I enjoyed all your projects!
I voted for your project and didn't even know it was yours! I loved it and thought it was very creative and beautiful. Sorry you didn't make it through.
ReplyDeleteAw! I'm sorry you didn't make it to the end. :( But you made it really far. :D I think you did a great job. Good work!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you didn't make it to the next round, but this was definitely the sweetest project.

Even though it wasn't necessarily a home decor project I loved the caterpillar! You could tell a lot of work and love went into it! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis was so much fun and I enjoyed voting on the projects. Your caterpillar was amazing and you did a FANTASTIC job!! Nothing to be disappointed with there :) Can't wait to see what else you are working on, I really enjoy your blog!

Korrie, Congratulations on making it as far as you did! Your projects are such an inspiration, and I had a wonderful time reading about all of the items you made for the competition. Even though you're not competing in the next round, I hope you still share your completed project home decor project on your blog!

Rats!! It's been so fun watching you progress in the competition!!! This project is so beautiful and just because it didn't make it through this round doesn't at all take away from how lovely it is. Fabric was such a broad category. I can't wait to see what you've been working on!!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE your precious wee girl's butterfly wings!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you didn't make it!! There was so much more work and detail that went into your pieces than a couple of the others that won. I am honestly just shell shocked that you didn't make it! I thought it was gorgeous and creative and wonderful. How someone with a bedspread and some throw pillows beat you, I will never know. Not to trying to bash anyone else, but what were people thinking? You were only behind by 50 votes though!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteSorry you didn't make it to the next round. I was only watching the contest because you were in it.
ReplyDeleteYour project was sooo great, nothing to be ashamed of there.
I love watching to see what you've been up to, you inspire a lot of people.
Keep on smiling!
Well, you did a fabulous job on this project and you were a great contender! You have such incredible talent ~ I'm sure we'll see you around the blogosphere in another contest soon. :-)

It's all beautiful work. Love that butterfly.
ReplyDeleteLovely work, and I do think Carle would approve! All of his artwork is created with tissue paper collage. He starts with white tissue paper and then layers it with paint, sometimes applying it with found-object stamps (like a scrap piece of carpeting) from around the house. Then he cuts and tears the customized paper into the shapes he needs. Thus, your technique is quite similar! Precious model, too.
