Still breathing

A few of my sweet virtual friends have wondered what happened to me  ;-)

Well, I’m still around!

But the Red Hen Home has officially changed locations…from Utah to Washington!  When did all this happen?  In December, right before Christmas!  So it has been a very busy time for my family, and the blog kind of fell by the wayside.

So here’s a little update for those who are interested.

We moved in on the 17th of December, and the NEXT DAY was my baby’s 5th birthday. It was a scramble to get the kitchen in some kind of order so she could have a birthday dinner!  Thankfully she allowed herself to be convinced that ice cream sundaes would be a grand birthday dessert, and I didn’t have to try to bake a cake!

The next several days there was MORE scrambling to get unpacked, as I HATE living in limbo…and I couldn’t imagine trying to feel Christmas-y while living out of boxes!

I would say we were probably 90% unpacked (inside the house) within the first week.

After Christmas, I started tackling the garage!  It was not an easy task to fit everything from a garage, a garden shed, and my beautiful workshop into one two-car space!  But I am exceedingly proud of myself that on the 4-week anniversary of moving in…we were able to park ONE car in the garage!

Inside the house we are very snug and comfortable, and my mind is starting to spin with projects I’d like to do.  First on the list—a home office again!  Our beautiful office furniture was included in the sale of our Utah home, so we’re working off a card table…and not enjoying it!

Then we also have an empty dining room.  Well, it’s not completely empty….

…it’s the new home of the suitcase wall!  ;-)

It feels more like home just to have it up again!

    Welcome back! I'm glad to hear that you survived the move and are getting things into a semblance of order.... moving is hard, but to do it right before the holidays... well, I can see how that would add a lot of additional stress on your load! Take your time to get things done and rest assured that we will still be here for you when you are ready.

    Glad you're back. We've been in our current home a long time but the memory of moving on December 22 still sticks! It was a crosstown move so a bit easier; we just unplugged the small tree from our rental and plugged it in here! Oh, and we hosted a New Year's Eve party that year, too!

    I think it was a good thing you had a birthday and Christmas to force you to get the moving quickly. The more time we have, the more we can waste.

    So glad things are settling a bit. Welcome to the West Coast! Love it lots (been an Oregonian now for 28 years, an Alaskan for 25, even a California visitor for a year)and since we are now "retired" we will continue to live here.

    Hope your family enjoys the new location and you find lots of projects to share with us.

    So glad to see that suitcase wall up again! Makes me so sad you didn't get to bring your office with you! on the other hand, it means you blogging about what you are going to come up with to replace... :)

    It is so good to hear from you both here and on FB. Good to hear that you are all doing well. It makes a big difference when our husbands like where they work and enjoy what they are doing.

    Omg Korrie--I swear I was thinking about you this morning while I was putting up a new post!
    I just finished working for the day and opened my email to see what was new. And there you were--I couldn't wait to hear about your move! So happy it sounds like it's going well!
