Legwarmers are back??

As a child of the 80s, I am very familiar with Legwarmers. How about you? Do you remember high-top shoes, stirrup pants, and legwarmers? Or at the very least, socks pulled over your stirrup pants?

I can't say that I was particularly sad...or that I even noticed...how legwarmers gradually fell out of popularity. But not too long ago, my sister and I visited a yarn store that had a sample knit up of the CUTEST legwarmers ever.

It may be time to bring them back!

I made these for my sister using some of my "stash" yarn. The pattern calls for a bulky yarn, and I used a worsted-weight held double. If I were to do it again...I would use it triple. However, then I wouldn't have had enough yarn, so I guess it's a moot point!

What do you think? Should legwarmers come back or be banned forever?

Love them! I totally remember high top shoes, stirrup pants (god those things were ugly, what were we thinking??!) and legwarmers. I also had a pair of parachute pants, rolled the bottom of my jeans and had about 20 pairs of slouchie socks! Plus more extremely embarrassing 80's wear, most in neon...

I think they are so cute, though I could never pull off the look. I guess I was a child of the 90s. The only legw armers I ever wore were pale pink and went from the bottom of my feet all the way up my hips...I studied classical ballet through high school. I looooved those leg warmers. They had a seam up the back like my pointe shoe tights, and I thought that was awesome. lol. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think I had a hand-me-down pair of rainbow striped leg warmers that I wore sled-riding. Karrie, I had a pair of parachute pants too! They were pink with a grey stripe. French-cuffed my jeans too...two to three pairs of slouch socks, Keds, lots of scrunchies in my hair, jelly shoes, jelly bracelets, charm necklaces. Oh my goodness! LOL!

Personally, if legwarmers never came back I would have been thrilled...... then.....Sarah came to visit and showed me photos of babies with legwarmers and cute diaper covers and a t-shirt and I melted. I had to make little Evie three pairs!!

On adults I would have thought, no! But, seeing those that you knit..... those are adorable!!! I love the cables and the buttons. Okay, so maybe I can change my mind? You did a great job on them!!

THOSE are ABSOLUTELY the cutest leg warmers I've EVER seen. - - - - They would make ANY pair of shoes look like tall boots, and for gals whose calves are "thinness challenged" like mine, they would be just DIVINE!
